How the Correx Device System Improves AVB

Correx products deliver the benefits of the bypass approach in an improved, surgeon-friendly version of traditional Aortic Valve Bypass. The Correx device system, including an insertion device and a complete, valved implant, automates the most difficult step in the AVB procedure. With the Correx insertion device, surgeons can perform AVB surgery quickly, precisely, and consistently on a beating heart without using the heart-lung machine. Blood loss is negligible.

Like traditional AVB, Correx AVB is performed through a small incision between the ribs on the left side. The sternum is not divided at the center of the chest. The ascending thoracic aorta is not cross-clamped.

The Correx AVB 18MM Kit

The Correx AVB 18MM Kit is a complete system for Aortic Valve Bypass surgery including an insertion device and two connecting components of a complete implant containing a clinically established, bioprosthetic valve. The Correx device system includes:

  • The Applicator
The Applicator automates insertion of the LV Connector into the apex of the left ventricle. The Applicator cores a uniform hole in the left ventricle while the LV Connector is simultaneously inserted. The cored tissue plug is captured within the Applicator. LV Connector insertion is controlled and rapid, resulting in minimal blood loss.
  • The LV Connector
The LV Connector is inserted into the apex of the left ventricle with the Applicator and then sutured to the left ventricle.
  • The Valved Conduit
The distal end of the Valved Conduit is sutured to a slit in the descending aorta, a routine cardiothoracic procedure. The Correx Valved Conduit incorporates established, approved tissue valves with long track records of safety and durability.
  • Quick Connection of LV Connector and Valved Conduit
The LV Connector and Valved Conduit incorporate mating connectors that are quickly and easily attached. Once joined, the bypass is complete and the left ventricular outflow tract obstruction is relieved.
